The full name of Green Light-Year is the Jiangchuan Green Light-Year Environmental Service Center in Minhang District, Shanghai. It is a private non-enterprise public welfare organization formally registered in the Civil Affairs Bureau of Minhang District, Shanghai in March 2016. In January 2018, the brand of Green Light-Year was exported to Suzhou and landed in the Green Light-Year Science Popularization Service Center of Suzhou Industrial Park. The competent department is the Science and Technology and Information Technology Bureau of Suzhou Industrial Park. The mission of the organization is to let the public happily practice the concept of sustainable development, and the vision is to become a leading sustainable development education institution in China. The values ​​of the organization are innovation and enterprising, courage to undertake, unity and cooperation, honesty and pragmatism.
After many years of development, Green Light-Year is transforming into a professional education for sustainable development in China (Education for Sustainable Development-ESD). Through the three levels of cognitive, social emotional and behavioral changes, it guides Chinese youth to understand the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Sustainable Development Goals), and around these 17 goals, focus on cultivating 8 core qualities for young people to meet the challenges of the 21st century: Systematic thinking literacy; Cooperative literacy; Foresight literacy; Critical thinking literacy; Value-oriented literacy; Self-awareness literacy; Strategic literacy; Problem-solving literacy.
