Jiazhou Ni – 绿色光年

Mr. Jiazhou Ni is a Youth Project Researcher at Shanghai Green Light-Year. He is currently studying at Hunan University, College of Information Science and Engineering, majoring in Data Science and Big Data Technology, B.S. Class of 2021. He is the founder and manager of Power Station of Youth, a youth innovation practice group.

He is the team leader of China Eco-Apprenticeship Program (CEAP) 2023, the mentor of Quality Development Course of the Party Committee’s Department of Student Affairs of Hunan University, the former President of the Student Union of Changzhou Senior High School of Jiangsu Province in 2019-2020, the Deputy Director of the Organization Department of Hunan University Committee of the Communist Youth League, and the Vice-President of the Photography Association of Hunan University. He has rich and varied experiences in science popularization and education practice level, and especially carried out a lot of work at the level of multidisciplinary cross-application, carrying out projects in the whole process of theoretical research, technological realization, and practical application.

During his university years, he set up the Power Station of Youth innovation and practice group, which now has nearly 50 members from Hunan University, Tsinghua University and other key universities at home and abroad to carry out project research. Among them, “Research on Multilateral Communication Paths for Telling China’s Stories in the New Era” and “Nature Education Research and Youth Practice Based on the Sustainable Development Goals” have been awarded national Student Innovation Training Programme projects, with Jiazhou Ni as the executive director.

In 2021, as the head of the Biological Innovation Laboratory of Changzhou Senior High School of Jiangsu Province (2019-2021), he led a team of secondary school students to complete a 200,000-word science work, A Piece of Stromatolite, which provided an experience reference for secondary school innovation experiments and research studies, was collected by the school library, and highly recognized by the Department of Education of Changzhou Senior High School of Jiangsu Province, which was also featured in 2022 in the CCTV.

In the process of conducting project-based research at Green Light Shanghai Green Light-Year, he has gained a wealth of achievements as a team leader and team member, including being selected as one of the top 25 finalists for the World Bank Group’s 2022 Youth Summit, and one of the top 12 global finalists for The International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability (ISCES) 2022, etc. At the same time, he actively brought the application of sustainability education into Hunan University and won the group bronze award of 2023 MIT iGEM International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition, and the national bronze award of 2023 China International University Student Innovation Competition, among other honors.

He actively participates in science promotion activities and has been invited to give science lectures at top universities and high schools, including Nanjing University, Central South University, and the Affiliated High School of Hunan Normal University, and has published two video works at Hunan University; he explores methods of sustainable education with local companies and has been invited to share at the 2023 Nature Education Industry Co-Creation Conference in Hunan Province. From 2020 to 2023, he was invited to The World Laureates Forum, a forum for the world’s top scientists organized by the China Association for Science and Technology and the World Laureates Association, for four consecutive years, which was reported by national-level media including CCTV News CCTV, People’s Daily and CGTN, as well as provincial and ministerial-level media such as Youth Daily and Changzhou Daily.
